Veeam integrates Backup-as-a-Service into Microsoft 365 service
Veeam Software, the market leader in data protection and ransomware recovery, has integrated Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS) capabilities within its Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 service. Currently protecting nearly 18 million Microsoft 365 users globally, Veeam's new BaaS capabilities will include support for Microsoft 365 Backup Storage, thus offering customers enhanced ransomware recovery options and data protection.
"Now, more than ever, businesses need the certainty that their crucial business data is guarded," says Danny Allan, CTO at Veeam. He emphasises the company's delight in expanding the protective capabilities used to shield close to 18 million Microsoft 365 users, by integrating with Microsoft 365 Backup Storage. Allan says, "This recent offering of BaaS for Microsoft 365 underlines our dedication to delivering new features and capabilities that utilise the power and dependability of the Veeam Data Platform and keep businesses running."
The recent preview of Veeam's integration with Microsoft 365 Backup Storage at the Microsoft Ignite event demonstrated how large volumes of Microsoft 365 data could be quickly and efficiently restored, thereby enabling organisations to reduce downtime following ransomware attacks or other threats to data loss.
Microsoft 365 Backup Storage offers high-speed point-in-time recovery for data within Microsoft 365 environments," enabling customers to address the most recent cybersecurity threats confidently," says Richard Riley, General Manager, Low Code and Content Services, Microsoft. He notes that the integration with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 offers their shared customers "radical resilience with swift backup and recovery of valuable business data to keep Microsoft 365 users productive."
Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, the leader in Microsoft 365 backup solutions, provides protection for almost 18 million users globally. This extensive adoption emphasises the clients' shared ownership and protection responsibility for their critical Microsoft 365 data across SharePoint Online, Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive for Business services.
Veeam has opened up several options for customers to utilise their service and manage Microsoft 365. These include the new Cirrus by Veeam, which delivers a straightforward, seamless SaaS experience without the need to manage infrastructure or storage within Microsoft 365 Backup Storage, the existing Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 software solution, and a backup service from a Veeam Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) partner, providing unique value-added services.
Work is currently underway for the integration of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 with Microsoft 365 Backup via their backup APIs. The general availability of the updated Veeam offering is expected within 90 days of the Microsoft 365 Backup Storage's availability.
