Krutrim partners with Cloudera to power Ola’s AI data lakes

Mon, 11th Aug 2025

Krutrim has announced a partnership with Cloudera to power large-scale analytics and data lake workloads for Ola on the Krutrim Cloud.

This collaboration will see Cloudera's data and AI platform integrated into Krutrim's sovereign cloud infrastructure, initially benefiting Ola and subsequently extending availability to other enterprises on the Krutrim platform.

Krutrim's aim is to enhance its capabilities in data engineering, artificial intelligence training, and inference at scale, targeting greater operational efficiency for enterprise-scale customers across India. The Krutrim Cloud is designed as a vertically integrated infrastructure, providing compute, storage, data management, and a range of AI-powered applications developed specifically for the Indian market. Krutrim's AI computing stack supports foundational models for text, voice, and video, geared towards accommodating India's diverse linguistic and cultural environment.

Through the integration of Cloudera's platform and consulting services, Krutrim has developed solutions that allow for the real-time processing of large-scale datasets aggregated from a variety of sources. According to the two companies, this architecture delivers more rapid and accurate data intelligence capabilities to Ola, one of India's significant enterprise consumers of cloud-based data and AI solutions.

The scalability and security of the Cloudera-based solution are pivotal for Krutrim as it seeks to deliver AI-powered data lake functions to a wider group of customers, including startups, researchers, and commercial enterprises throughout India.

Indian market focus

"We are focused on building India's cloud with deep integrated capabilities across infrastructure, data, and AI to better serve the unique needs of the Indian market," said Navendu Agarwal, Senior Vice President and Head of Business, Krutrim. "With Cloudera on Krutrim, it will give our clients the scalability and performance to advance data lake use cases with confidence and empower businesses to create and package cost effective solutions on India's own sovereign cloud."

Krutrim's cloud offering is positioned to address the requirements of Indian organisations seeking to manage and analyse large and complex datasets natively within the country's regulatory environment. Their solution is structured to support a wide spectrum of AI training and inference workloads, reflecting the demands of enterprises as well as regulations around data sovereignty and privacy.

Cloudera's perspective

"Krutrim's vision to create a robust AI infrastructure for India aligns perfectly with Cloudera's mission to enable trusted enterprise AI through data," said Mayank Baid, Regional Vice President, India & South Asia, Cloudera. "With Ola Group already running mission-critical workloads on this stack, and working with our professional services team on data quality, governance and natural language access, we're excited about co-developing and implementing the solution framework that brings to the broader enterprise adoption in India. The partnership reinforces Cloudera's position as a preferred partner for data-driven transformation in India's rapidly evolving technology landscape and the development underscores Krutrim's commitment to building an enterprise-grade, India-first cloud that meets the high demands of enterprises."

The initiative marks a step forward for both companies as they respond to the growing demand among enterprises for secure, high-performance solutions capable of handling significant volumes of data and diverse AI workloads. The use of Cloudera's platform is central to this effort, providing the structured support required for regulated industries as well as for organisations seeking to adopt cloud-based data analytics at scale.

Ola is the first adopter of the Cloudera-powered data lake and analytics capabilities on Krutrim Cloud, utilising the system to process and derive insights from expansive, real-time data sets generated during daily operations. The deployment reflects a broader market trend in India towards sovereign cloud models that assure data locality, compliance, and advanced technical capabilities.

The Cloudera-based offering on Krutrim will be made available to other enterprise customers, extending the potential reach of the solution. This development is set to play a role in supporting digital transformation efforts within various sectors, by enabling businesses to harness artificial intelligence and data analytics efficiently and securely within India's jurisdiction.
