HPE unveils GreenLake Intelligence to boost hybrid IT with AI

Today

HPE has outlined a new approach to hybrid IT operations through the release of GreenLake Intelligence, an agentic AI framework designed to simplify and enhance hybrid infrastructure management.

GreenLake Intelligence extends agentic AIOps throughout a comprehensive technology stack, aiming to transform HPE's GreenLake cloud into a hybrid cloud platform capable of learning, acting and optimising IT operations in real time.

The framework is designed to address challenges such as manual and siloed workflows, delays in troubleshooting and underutilisation of IT resources. It aims to reduce operational burdens on IT teams by deploying AI agents that work across key domains, including storage, networking, compute, virtualised resources, cost management, observability, sustainability and business services.

Agentic-AI-powered cloud

HPE's President and Chief Executive Officer, Antonio Neri, described the development as a significant change in approach for the industry.

"HPE is reimagining hybrid IT as only we can do, catapulting organisations from the era of hybrid complexity to the era of agentic-AI-powered cloud operations," said Antonio Neri, president and CEO, at HPE. "HPE's new vision for hybrid IT is fuelled by agentic intelligence at every layer of infrastructure, so enterprises can realise their boldest ambitions and achieve previously impossible levels of IT operations performance and efficiency."

The GreenLake Intelligence platform is constructed and integrated across HPE's hybrid cloud technology stack and accessed through GreenLake Copilot. The AI agents within GreenLake Intelligence work in real time to coordinate, reason and act across several infrastructure components and services.

Expanded networking, storage and operations

Among the new features incorporated into GreenLake Intelligence is the HPE Aruba Networking Central agentic mesh, which autonomously analyses network and security conditions, offering detailed analysis and action-oriented remediation options. The network management system leverages multiple network-specific reasoning agents supported by conversational and multi-modal capabilities via its networking copilot.

On operational automation, HPE announced the expansion of its OpsRamp Software. This operations copilot, launched in 2024, will provide agentic automation for IT infrastructure management, targeting faster detection and remediation of issues with human oversight maintained. The system allows for conversational assistance, a command centre for AI/ML alerts and incident management, and root-cause analysis coordinated across compute, network, storage, virtualisation and software layers.

HPE's Alletra Storage MP X10000 will incorporate agentic AI-powered storage, with forthcoming support for Model Context Protocol servers. This enables administrators and developers to manage data operations through natural language interfaces or GreenLake Copilot, connecting data intelligence with both internal and external AI agents and ensuring AI workflows have access to the necessary unstructured data and metadata-based intelligence.

FinOps and sustainability updates

Additional enhancements to GreenLake cloud services include expanded support for financial operations (FinOps) and sustainability. The new workload and capacity optimiser will span HPE storage, compute and networking, as well as third-party hardware, with the goal of aligning resources with business objectives while controlling costs. Consumption analytics provide features such as spend anomaly alerts and recommendations for cost-saving infrastructure changes, including options for downsizing or decommissioning virtual machines.

The HPE Sustainability Insight Center adds predictive sustainability forecasting and tailored metrics, including a managed service mode for monitoring and reducing hardware-related carbon footprints. These modules are being integrated into GreenLake Intelligence for unified access and oversight.

Mohan Krishnan, Vice President, HPE GreenLake & Hybrid Cloud solutions, Asia Pacific, explained the strategy further.

"As we step into the new AI-native era, HPE is leading the charge by infusing agentic AI across hybrid cloud operations. By powering everything from AIOps to hybrid IT, agentic AI breaks through legacy barriers, drives smarter automation, and accelerates innovation," said Mohan Krishnan, Vice President, HPE GreenLake & Hybrid Cloud solutions, Asia Pacific at HPE. "With GreenLake intelligence, we are enabling organisations across APAC to drive real transformation in performance, efficiency, and productivity. We are empowering organisations to not just keep up, but leap forward, by unlocking agility, intelligence, and speed at every layer of their infrastructure."

Cloud operations and partner tools

HPE has also unveiled the HPE CloudOps Software suite, which comprises OpsRamp, Morpheus Enterprise Software and Zerto Software. This suite provides automation, orchestration, governance, data mobility, and cyber resiliency for multivendor, multi-cloud, multi-workload infrastructure and is available either as a full suite or as standalone applications.

Professional and managed services for CloudOps are being offered as part of an enhanced service portfolio designed to assist customers throughout their modernisation process, from initial consulting to ongoing operations. This includes a new financing programme from HPE Financial Services, supporting investments in CloudOps and related software, with options such as zero percent financing and deferred payments for specific infrastructure products.

To aid strategic IT modernisation, HPE has announced the CloudPhysics Plus assessment tool. This tool expands on previous capabilities to provide automated, comprehensive recommendations covering workload placement, asset utilisation and infrastructure modernisation across a broad range of environments, from on-premises and virtualised to public cloud platforms.

A new GreenLake Cloud Commit programme is designed to allow customers to make predictable long-term investment commitments, unlocking discounts and access to value-add services and software through a flexible purchasing model.

Availability timelines

GreenLake Intelligence and its associated components - including the GreenLake Copilot beta, HPE Aruba Networking Central with agentic mesh, Alletra Storage enhancements, OpsRamp Software updates, CloudPhysics Plus and CloudOps Software - are scheduled to roll out progressively from the third quarter of 2025 through to the end of 2025.
