ASRock Rack debuts new servers featuring Intel Xeon 6700 processors

Tue, 4th Jun 2024

Server vendor ASRock Rack has unveiled a new range of products featuring the Intel Xeon 6700-series processors at Computex 2024 in Taipei, Taiwan. The new lineup includes four motherboards and four server systems designed to meet the growing demands for cloud-scale workloads and efficient computing.

The motherboards, identified as GNRD8-2L2T, GNRD16QM3, GNR2D16-2T, and GNR2D32G-2L, are tailored to offer versatile and high-performance capabilities. In addition to these, ASRock Rack is showcasing four server systems: 6U8X-GNR2/DLC B200, 1U16E3S-SRF, 4U8G-GNR2, and 4UMGX-GNR2, each designed to optimise performance in various applications, including web hosting and content delivery networks (CDNs).

The Intel Xeon 6700-series processors with Efficient-cores (E-cores) are engineered for enhanced efficiency, providing up to 1.17x higher average performance and 1.46x greater performance per watt compared to the 5th-generation Intel Xeon processors. This performance boost is pivotal for handling the extensive demands of cloud-scale environments.

Among the newly launched products, the 1U16E3S-SRF is a standout. It features a single-socket all-flash storage server with 16 E3.S PCIe 5.0 x4 drive bays, aimed at high-bandwidth storage solutions. Other notable motherboards include the single-socket GNRD8-2L2T and dual-socket GNR2D16-2T, which offer expanded compatibility with PCIe 5.0 or CXL 2.0 slots, catering to a broad range of mainstream applications.

ASRock Rack also introduced the GNRD16QM3-NL and GNR2D32G-2L+ motherboards, which feature multiple MCIOs (Mini Cool Interface Options), allowing for impressive expandability and maximised DIMM capacities. This makes them particularly suitable for applications demanding high performance per virtual machine.

The 4U8G-GNR2 and 4UMGX-GNR2 GPU servers further expand the capabilities of ASRock Rack's lineup. They can house up to eight dual-slot accelerator cards, designed for intensive computational tasks such as AI and machine learning.

"Intel has provided a unique platform addressing a wide spectrum of performance and efficiency needs. We are excited to introduce a range of server motherboards and systems leveraging the Intel Xeon 6 processor at Computex," stated Hunter Chen, Senior Vice President of ASRock Rack. "Our commitment to Intel's vision ensures that customers can expect an extensive lineup of products powered by Intel Xeon 6 processors."

Ryan Tabrah, Vice President and GM of Xeon E-Core Products at Intel, added, "Intel Xeon 6 offers a unified platform with processors that deliver high AI performance with P-cores and exceptional efficiency with E-cores. The compatible architecture of E-cores and P-cores simplifies the deployment and management of diverse business needs. The innovative platforms by ASRock Rack demonstrate the versatility of Intel Xeon 6 processors, encompassing a wide range of use cases from cloud to edge computing."
