NTT DATA & AWS target agentic AI in Asia-Pacific deal
NTT DATA has signed a multi-year strategic collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services. The companies said the deal will focus on cloud modernisation and agentic AI adoption for enterprises in Asia-Pacific.
NTT DATA and AWS positioned the agreement around moving organisations from early-stage AI work into larger deployments. The companies described Asia-Pacific as a fast-moving market with demand from regulated sectors and high-growth industries.
Four priorities
The companies said they will work across four areas. The first covers large-scale migration and modernisation of on-premises systems on AWS. They said the work will use generative AI, agentic AI, automation and data platforms.
The second area centres on industry cloud offerings on AWS. NTT DATA said it will use its Industry Cloud portfolio. It described the portfolio as having more than 500 extensible components and AI agents. The companies listed financial services, healthcare, life sciences, public sector, manufacturing, retail and energy as initial focus sectors.
The third area covers managed cloud environments and customer experience technology. The companies referenced work on contact centre modernisation using Amazon Connect. They said the project relates to AI-driven customer experience services.
The fourth area focuses on regulated cloud offerings and digital sovereignty in Europe. The companies said NTT DATA will act as a launch partner for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud. They said the services will address data residency and operational autonomy requirements for governments and enterprises.
Delivery expansion
NTT DATA said it has formed a dedicated AWS Business Group. It said the group aligns with the AWS sales and delivery structure. The company said the group includes close to 11,000 AWS-certified experts globally.
They aims to certify nearly 10,000 more experts over the next three years. The companies said AWS will support co-innovation programmes, certifications and client events.
Partner agreements between systems integrators and hyperscale cloud providers have increased as enterprises review legacy estates and data architectures. In Asia-Pacific, banks, healthcare providers and public agencies face regulatory demands that affect cloud configuration, security controls and data handling.
"Cloud and AI are central to enterprise transformation," said Abhijit Dubey, President and CEO, NTT DATA. "Through our Strategic Collaboration Agreement with AWS, we are helping clients move beyond experimentation to scale AI impactfully and responsibly. This collaboration underscores our commitment to deliver secure, industry-specific solutions that create tangible business value for our clients worldwide."
Greg Pearson, VP AWS Global Sales, linked the collaboration to modernisation and regulatory needs. "This collaboration will help more enterprise organizations unlock the potential of the cloud and AI to modernize their operations and accelerate innovation," said Pearson. "Through industry-aligned architecture platforms, AI-driven customer experiences, and support in meeting evolving regulatory requirements through the AWS European Sovereign Cloud, we're enhancing the ability to transform legacy workloads and build modern digital experiences on AWS."
Customer example
The companies pointed to work with Honda Trading Asia as an example of delivery in the region. They said the business migrated to AWS with NTT DATA's support as part of an infrastructure modernisation effort.
"Migrating to the AWS Cloud with the expert support of NTT DATA has been an essential step in modernizing our systems and infrastructure and provides us with a powerful foundation for AI innovation. NTT DATA were always available to address our technical questions and worked closely with us to stay within our timeline and budget. Their expertise and support ensured a smooth transition, unlocking exciting growth possibilities through AWS," said Somya Mayuraskoon, Director, Honda Trading Asia.
Sector focus
NTT DATA said it will develop dozens of new industry-specific AI-driven cloud solutions on AWS through its Industry Cloud platform. The company outlined several areas of work across sectors.
In financial services, the companies said they will modernise core banking and compliance workloads. In healthcare and life sciences, they said the work will include AI-enabled data platforms and secure environments for data from business applications. In the public sector, they said they plan private cloud solutions that meet compliance requirements for citizen-facing digital services.
For manufacturing and automotive, the companies said they will modernise business and IT operations using generative AI and agentic technology. They linked the effort to financial and operational efficiency.
The companies also described innovation environments on AWS, including sandboxes and dedicated innovation labs. They said the environments will support development, testing and refinement before scaling for enterprise deployment.
NTT DATA said it will offer services spanning advisory work, cloud transformation, implementation and managed services. It said it will also expand its Smart AI AgentTM Ecosystem as part of the initiative.
